Canada reaches free trade agreement with South Korea

Under the strong, stable leadership of Stephen Harper, the Conservatives have pursued the most ambitious trade agenda in Canadian history.

That hard work continues to pay off – today, Canada reached a free trade agreement with South Korea that will create thousands of jobs for Canadians.

South Korea is the fourth-largest economy in Asia with an annual GDP of $1.1 trillion and a population of 50 million people.

This deal will increase Canadian exports to South Korea by an estimated 32 per cent and boost Canada’s economy by an estimated $1.7 billion annually. It will also give Canadian consumers more choice and lower prices.

Trade deals like this are critical to Canada’s long-term prosperity in the global economy – and only Canada’s Conservatives can be counted on to manage our economy.
