On Thursday, the Hon. Peter Van Loan, Government House Leader and the Hon. Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the regions of Quebec, highlighted our Conservative Government’s accomplishments during the busy fall sitting of the House of Commons.
This is Canada’s moment. Our natural wealth, our sound finances, our stable democracy, our growing trade relationships, the strong demand for our resources and our ingenuity have positioned us to seize this moment.
Over the past year, our Conservative Government passed 40 bills, negotiated a historic free trade deal with the European Union, promoted Canadian values globally and introduced measures to protect hard-working Canadian families.
We are making progress on bills that will meet our commitments in the Speech from the Throne. These bills are combatting harmful online harassment and exploitation, protecting Canadians from unsafe drugs, supporting injured veterans with priority consideration for public service jobs, standing up for victims of crime, granting greater decision-making powers to the Northwest Territories and making our prisons safer for correctional officers.
We continue to deliver on our Government’s commitment to create jobs and opportunities for Canadians, to support and protect Canadian families, and to put Canada first.
Individual Members of Parliament have also had record success in advancing important changes for their constituents, with 19 Private Members’ Bills becoming law since 2011.
Our Conservative Government is committed to seizing Canada’s moment, as we deliver real results for hard-working Canadians.
